How the moon affects us | A simple guide

It’s easy to get lost in all sorts of research and techniques as to how the moon affects our energetic beings. Something I dive deep into inside my Moon Manifestation Course. But you would be surprised how much you can understand the lunar phases by having knowledge of some core simple things about the moon.

First of all, the moon is one of the planets that a zodiac can also be ruled by, along with all the other planets, each with their own energetic meanings. The moon, in particular, relates to your emotions. So a zodiac that is ruled by the moon, such as a Cancer, can be a really emotional sign.

So as the moon effects our emotions, wherever the moon shows up on your natal chart, it will relate to your emotions. Everything going on in the cosmos and how other planets are aligned with the moon, will affect our emotions in that coordinating way. So if you would like to dive deeper into exactly how the moon effects your emotions, specific to your zodiac, you can do some research or have a reading of your own to discover this. I personally recommend The Chariot, they do online readings as well via Zoom.

But to make this a lot more simple, I like to relate the moon as an energetic pull from our own energetic being. So when the moon is new (all black) this is a time where we may have less energy, and with less energy, we may have a nostalgic feel of wanting to rid yourself of any feelings/behaviors or energies that are not serving you and begin a new phase for transformation.

This is why I begin my Moon Manifestation Course with setting new intentions with the new moon!

As the moon begins to light up, think of the light of the moon being an energetic tug, as during the waxing phases of the moon, our energy is being pulled. This is exactly why this two week time frame is perfect for achieving new goals and intentions that you intended during the new moon. (Exactly what we do inside this four week course – MMC).

If we are aligned with this intention and conscious with the energy of the moon, we can accelerate our manifestations with the energy of the moon and allow in the intuitive guidance along the way. Simply being conscious of this energy is also a way you can sync your cycles with the lunar phases of death and rebirth.

When we hit the full moon, I recommend spending your energy doing things that light you up, things of creativity and passion. If your an artist, paint. If your a writer, write. If your a musician, play music. Ect. This is because our intuitive guidance is heightened, as is our energetic connection to the cosmos. This is also the perfect time to meditate.

This is also a time of reflection, this is due to the heightened effects of the subconscious. The full moon tends to bring the subconscious mind forward. So any feelings or thoughts that you may have laid dormant, will come up during this time. This is because if it is an energy that is out of alignment with our truest selves, the intuition will try to “remind” you that it needs to be addressed and healed.

I believe this is why the night of the full moon is usually a night full of crazy happenings, bad or good… it depends on what’s going on in your subconscious mind.

The next phases of the moon are the waning phases, these phases (the next two weeks) are meant for rest. I recommend spending this time for self love, possibly some more reflection towards the subconscious thoughts and energies that came through on the full moon. Or the goals you set and how far you came with them so that you can intend something new for the upcoming new moon.

These phases are very important… rest is very important. If you feel resistant towards resting and still have an overactive mind that feels guilty for standing still… than this is another indication of energetic misalignment. The rest is particularly important to establish feelings of worthiness for your desires, regardless of the action. And this rest gives an energy of ALLOWING your manifestations to come.

My Full Moon Affirmation Cleanse

With the energy that came in the month of October, I can say that this energy has impacted my life greatly. It has brought me to my knees and one point and I had to get myself back up and believe that everything has a purpose and I am grateful to simply be alive every morning.

That’s why at the end of this month, this full moon has great meaning to me, and I believe it may to a lot of people, as the energy this month has been a little weird.

It is important to verbally remind yourself of all the things in life you are truly grateful for, I hope you will partake in these actions tonight under this full moon in the Taurus.

Set Your Aura

You’re aura is the energy you give off around you, this is with you always. But when I take the time aside to meditate, I like to set my atmosphere to amplify my emotions in a spiritual way. I like to set out crystals that resonate with me, light candles and incense. This helps me to meditate deeper, but these things are absolutely not a necessity to do.

Just be sure to be in a safe and quiet place, where you can close your eyes and focus on your intentions and nothing else.

You can choose to have silence, meditation music, nature sounds, singing bowls or whichever you choose. I like all four of these options and it always changes which one I choose to listen to.

The Meditation

I do simple affirmations every day, but on this full moon I want to go deeper and I think this is good to do every now and again.

Sometimes I will meditate in silence first and sometimes I will do my affirmations before I meditate, what you choose to do is up to you. How you choose to sit, stand or lay is up to you. I do not believe specific guidelines during meditation.

Take this time to envision your life in a grateful way, every thing and every person you are grateful for, feel that gratefulness within you. Imagine yourself exactly as the person you wish to be five years from now, where you are, what you’re doing… see yourself exactly as you want to be and feel it as if it’s already here.

The Affirmations

Everyone’s affirmations should be different, mine should be different from yours as yours should be from another. But I will give you some ideas, as these are the affirmations that I will tell myself on this full moon.

I am happy.

I am happy to wake up this morning, to sleep comfortably tonight.

I am grateful for this day I had to live, for the food and drink that I was so fortunate to have.

It is in my power to be happy every day, I make that choice.

I am grateful for the love in my life, my family, my boyfriend, my animals, my friends. I’m grateful for my home, for my warmth. I know that I am fortunate.

I am confident, I am honest, I am grateful. I am loved, I am smart, I am creative, I am a go-getter. I am happy, I spread happiness, I spread laughter, I spread love. I am well-spoken, I am successful, I can do anything that I want to do.

I am kind, I am strong, I am powerful, I am persistent.

I leave all things that no longer serve me to make space for the things that I need in my life.

Affirmations are all about speaking to your conscious and subconscious, saying all the things you want to be as if you already are them. In it’s own miracle way it helps you to become all of these things within time.

I always add gratefulness to this, and doing so allows you to realize exactly how much you have to be thankful for, no matter how simple they are. Afterwards, the negative things begin to disappear and more positive things begin to come your way.

Allow these affirmations to help you realize that your life is all you pertain it to be, it’s all you say it is and it’s all that you focus on.

Crater Lake, Oregon

Crater Lake is an absolute must-see location in the Pacific Northwest and one of my favorites! When I first saw Crater Lake with my own eyes, I could only describe it as heaven on Earth. This could have very well been because of the timing of which I was there, which I recommend to anyone wanting to visit there. I was in Crater Lake in July, early in the morning, with a blue sky and clouds within it. The water was incredibly still and the water was a beautiful reflection of the snow of the crater and the sky above it, so perfectly that it was difficult to tell where the water began and the sky started.

Crater Lake was once a volcano, called Mount Mazama. This volcano’s eruption was so enormous, that it caused the volcano to collapse into itself, leaving a giant crater, almost 2,000 feet deep. This crater filled with water through rainfall and melted snow, making it insanely clean and therefore a gorgeous, bright blue.

There are many different areas to view the crater and there is one area that you can actually get into the water, this place is called Cleetwood Cove and is about a 20 foot cliff. This jump is a must do! Seeing the snow-covered crater from the crystal clear water is like pure magic and the water isn’t as cold as you would expect. You have to hike about a mile downhill to reach this area, the hike down is wonderful and the hike up can be a little difficult, but well worth it.

The main area of Crater Lake has a lot of information to learn everything about the area, as well as buy souvenirs and some fancy food, which wasn’t as expensive as I expected, with the view that we had.

It is, till this day, the most beautiful place I have ever seen, if you are anywhere in the Pacific Northwest, this is a place that you must see, and I recommend it in the early morning in good weather, and to stay throughout the day.

How The Moon Effects Us (Moon Phases)

There is an energy within us that is difficult to be proven or explained, it has been attempted to be solved by Einstein but he never came to a mathematical conclusion and it is still a concept of study today. So I guess it takes a leap upon faith to acknowledge this energy.

If you look into the description of energy, one thing that it states is that no matter the distance; energy remains connected, it remains one. It is this energy that connects us to this planet and everything in it, and also the universe.

This is a mind-blowing belief if you have never been introduced to it before, but there are many ways to harness this energy and connection. A good way to start is learning how to use the energy of the moon and its phases to your advantage and to better connect with yourself.

Each phase of the moon has a different spiritual meaning, in fact it is believed that they can affect who you are as a person, based on what moon phase you were born under. (I can describe this further in another post.)

Here is a small guide as to how to harness the energy the energy from the moon and use it in your everyday life.

 

New Moon: A new moon is the best time to set new intentions for yourself. It is the best time to release any negativity, bad habits or anything at all that you wish to let go of. It’s a good practice to maybe write it down, but make sure that you think about these things intentionally and set new intentions as well and use the following moon phases to guide you.

Waxing Crescent Moon: This moon phase is showing you that you are well on your journey, in this phase, remember to start consciously thinking about your new intentions and how you will achieve them. As the moon moves forward, so shall you.

First Quarter Moon: A half moon is to remind you to push forward, to start taking action. You may be facing obstacles at this point, but remember to think positively and don’t waver.

Waxing Gibbous Moon: This moon is to have you observe your successes, look upon this with positivity and refine your actions.

Full Moon: A full moon is meant to have your subconscious feelings come forward. On a full moon, you may be better at doing things you love to do, or more tuned to learn new things. Harness the full moon’s energy with a ritual or with simple meditation, I like to look at this phase as allowing me to realize what my next intentions should be, when I am at my highest self.

Waning Gibbous Moon: It is best, during this phase, to look inward and be truly grateful for what you have accomplished and also think about the new intentions the full moon may have inspired you to set.

Third Quarter Moon: This moon representation means forgiveness, to me, I see this as forgiving ourselves for maybe not accomplishing what we had wishes, for a new cycle is beginning soon.

Waning Crescent Moon: This is the cycle of rest and stillness, also another time that should be full of meditation, preparing for the New Moon.

 

We do much more than just exist in this universe, we are connected with it. We all have energy within us, with a purpose. The moon is the closest thing we see that connects us to this incredible, universal energy. It is all this incredible magic that we need to learn the trick to.
